Topic: Next Generation Database Monitoring

PANTUG's next meeting is Wed. May 10th at 6:30 pm at ITT Tech in King of Prussia (driving directions ). This is an open meeting so everyone is invited to attend (you don’t need to be a PANTUG member). The meeting is being sponsored by RippleTech and there will be pizza! While it is not required that you RSVP to attend, it would help make sure we have enough pizza for everyone. Please RSVP for the Next Generation Database Monitoring meeting here.

The presentation will be on database monitoring for security, compliance and systems management.

Traditional database audit logging puts a tremendous load on the database server being monitored. Application layer audit logging is more efficient but not all inclusive. Next Generation Database Logging overcomes both of these issues by monitoring the database network traffic using deep packet inspection to create the audit trails.

Mehlam Shakir, VP of Strategy & Technology and Troy Sorzano, Director of Professional Services at RippleTech will discuss database monitoring solutions. Use cases, benefits to end-users, and, how a SQL session monitoring approach can help organizations enhance data security, comply with privacy regulations, and improve service levels. Mr. Shakir will be demonstrating the new RippleTech InCache next generation database auditing appliance that can monitor and log MS SQL, DB2, Oracle, MySQL and Sybase database traffic. With web based audit reporting InCache can show complete user sessions from database login, database activity to database logout.

This next generation database auditing technology was desgined to help companies protect identity and privacy data at the database level which is just one more tool to keep that data out of the cyber criminals hands.
